Serial number cant be verified on apple coverage

I am getting one offer from a seller in classified selling iphone 12 pro max for cheaper price because the display is changed, it marked as a important message is setting/about Display is not original and when i check its serial number on apple coverage error "We’re sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct" does anybody have any idea?

Serial number showing as invalid. i have just checked the serial number of my ipad pro using the apple coverage checker tool and it says invalid serial number, how can it be invalid and how do i fix this? The device has never been replaced, damaged, repaired etc just me as owner only every tied to my iCloud account, I copied and pasted the serial number as well as typing so I know it’s not a typo on my part.
