I have a new vehicle and am trying to use the hands free phone, with Siri or with AppleCarPlay. But... the I am asked for a password. And I have no idea what it might be. It isn't my iPhone sign in or cell number .
Is there a magic code? or can I reset it? Because this is very frustrating!
So I made everything forget everything...
And started again.... and now it works.
Working with the dealer sounds easy enough if you live where the dealer is. But I don't. And with the way the weather is, I wasn't about to go on the 3 hour icy drive so that I could make phone calls.
I still don't know what password 'the voice' wanted... and only hope that she is happier now. She wasn't happy with the new number I created so that wasn't the issue. Siri makes the calls now with no problem if I Hey Siri. No, I've never had to use a PIN to make a call.
At any rated, thanks for offering help. Sometimes electronic things like to be shut down and started up just to let us know that they are in control. Maybe Siri and the other voice are in cahoots.
Go to Settings>Siri & Search. Make sure the switch for Allow Siri when locked is turned on. Also check Settings>General>CarPlay and tap on your vehicle name and make sure that Allow CarPlay While Locked is turned on.
Which password did you change? So you do not know what password it is asking for, and you say this is Siri's voice asking for the password? If you unplug the phone from CarPlay and you just connect to Bluetooth and try to make a call what happens?
I changed my AT&T mailbox password... and no, it isn't the Siri voice. I am going to try another AT&T code... I will also try to reset carplay and reconnect to bluetooth. What a project. Like many things, it seemed like it should be so simple.
It is simple if you know what you are doing. I've connected to my CarPlay with no issue. It sounds like maybe your car is causing the issue since you are saying the voice you are hearing is not Siri. And I have no idea why you changed your AT&T mailbox password. Perhaps you should go to your car dealer and have them help you.
Well, I changed my mailbox password because after 'the voice' asked for my password several times, she asked for my box number. So it seemed reasonable to change it so that I knew for sure what to enter. :-)
Okay... have those things all done. Will try again next time I go outside. Thanks for your input.
Sadly, didn't work... in my phone app, changed my password, and that didn't help either. So back to square one...
Maybe Siri and the other voice are in cahoots.

Well, I asked you if you were able to make a call if you disconnected from CarPlay and you did not respond to that. I'm not sure exactly where this error is coming from, but I have AT&T, I have CarPlay, but I've never seen or heard a request for a password to use the phone. Like deggie, I'm wondering if this is something that your Toyota is asking for. Let me ask you this, when you are not connected to the vehicle, are you able to use Siri to make a phone call? Try that as a test. Do you have a PIN lock on your SIM that requires you to enter a PIN code before making a call?
When I try to make a phone call from my new Toyota, 'the voice' asks for my password. But nothing that I use seems to be my password. Is there a way to 'trick' her or reset
