Do messages on my iPhone appear on my iPad as well?

Your iPhone deals with two very different types of messages as explained here.

What is the difference between iMessage and SMS/MMS? - Apple Support


If your iPad is properly set up, it should receive iMessages the same way your iPhone does.


SMS messages would have to be handed off from the iPhone.
