Why do I not see the incoming printed messages on watch? All i get is a black screen.

Do you have the Watch set to mirror your iPhone for Messages? Check Control Center and see if Theater Mode is on. Swipe up to reveal Control Center, the icon is the one that contains 2 theater masks. It is gray and white when off, yellow and white when on. Turn it off.
