Microphone problem

my microphone works when taking videos it’s very loud but when on WhatsApp call and WhatsApp voice call it’s very soft is this a hardware problem or is it n software problem, airtime calls also sounds good but don’t know Must I send my phone in or is it n software feature that must be fixed from apple or WhatsApp side ?
