Iphone 4 - Wifi Password Problems

My home has an apple router, so I never had this problem until this week.

I cannot logon to most wifi spots. The phone sees the router, but gives the following error: "Incorrect password for 'router'".

The password is correct, but I can connect with my computer or others phones, not the Iphone4. I have tried a dozen spots, houses, cafes, airports etc.. and I could get one or two to work.

I am using the correct password- it has to be driver problem.

Any ideas? I have reset the network settings back to the factory settings. No difference.

Thanks

If no change after resetting network settings, try restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup. If no change after this, more than likely your iPhone has a hardware problem with the wireless card or with something else. The iPhone includes a one year warranty. You can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

I'm having the same problem, along with many others it looks like. I can connect from someones wifi with no password but can't connect to mine with the right password. Hopefully apple is on it

It's unlikely that Apple is on it, because the number of reports are so scattered and so few that it is almost certainly a problem with your specific phone or your router.

What type of encryption do you have set on your router? What is the model of your router? Does your router have the latest version of firmware available? Have you tried rebooting the router (turn it off for 15 seconds)? Have you tried *Reset Network Settings* on your phone?

I don't get the incorrect password on my network. It shows it's connected but will not use the wifi. There is no antenna signal strength meter. I have been using this network for about a year without any problems. Today it says it is connected but won't use it. If I try to connect to my neighbors secure network I get the incorrect password message. I have signed in to this network before without isues. Something has changed with the iPhone as the wifi will not work on any network now, even unsecured ones. Just noticed this is in the iPhone 4 group. I have a 3GS with 4.0.1

Have you Reset Network Settings on the phone, and rebooted your router? The DHCP daemon (that assigns IP addresses) frequently dies in most routers, and rebooting the router restarts it.

When it doesn't connect wait a couple of minutes, then go into Settings/WiFi and tap on the arrow to the right of the network name, and look at the IP address. If it begins 169.254... it means that the router has not assigned an IP address to the phone, so the phone chose a random one in the ad hoc range.

I am having a problem connecting to my wifi. It says unable to join the network. I have a linksys modem and has been set up recently and is working well with all my other wireless equipment. I have done the resetting that has been discussed in this forum. I have checked my router's setting. It's on DHCP. I did click on the arrow on the list of networks on my iphone4. Details required to be manually typed are IP address, subnet mask, router, DNS, Search domains, Client ID. Then I have to choose HTTP proxy (off, manual, auto). So far I can only type in DNS and Client ID. But still I am unable to connect to my wifi. I got the right password. What's the problem with this? Can anyone help?

You should not have to enter ANYTHING on the phone. It should all be automatic, unless you have turned off DHCP in your router. And if you don't know that that is you haven't.

On the phone: Settings/General/Reset-Reset Network Settings.

On the router: Turn it off for about 15 seconds to reboot it.

If it still doesn't work make sure the router has the latest firmware (check the linksys web site).

I hope Apple sees this thread as well. Nothing seems to help. Sometimes it works, but mostly it doesn't. I can't change or affect public routers at coffee shops or libraries. The phone should just work without changing the router.

I plan to take the phone to the Apple store when I get back. Considering it is not a consistent problem I am afraid they will tell me it is not a problem.

I am having this problem also with iPhone 4 only. Started 2 days ago, home wifi was working fine in the morning by afternoon iPhone 4 was not recognizing the password. I reset network setting and it would still not recognize password. My wife has iPhone 3gs with iOS4 and she does not have a problem with wifi. I can connect to other wifi in area but not my own. My router is Verizon FIOS, my macbook pro and imac both use same wifi and no problems. Password that is entered is accurate as it is same one I use with the computers and iPhone 3gs (copied and pasted from macbook keychain ). Very frustrating.
