Are these the same alarms on your iPhone, if so try editing the alarm directly on the iPhone. Here's a resource that can help:

If these are separate alarms, and you can't edit them, try adding a new alarm and see if you are able to label the alarm the way you wish. If you can you can add a new alarm and delete the old alarm.

I have the same issue when trying to change the name of an existing alarm. Here’s a work around.

On your watch, tell Siri to change the existing alarm name. “Change my noon alarm name to Lunch with Shawn.”

I have found the wording of the command is extremely important. You must say it EXACTLY as I said in my previous post.

If you say “Change my noon alarm” she’ll respond “What time do you want me to change to?” If you say “Change my noon alarm to Lunchtime” she’ll respond the same way.

If you say “Change my noon alarm name to Lunch with Shawn” it will work. Hit should be like below.

I’m having the same issue with my watch. And it is the labels on the alarms that I try to set with my watch. They will not change from what they currently are. I want to update them with a new label for the new alarm that I’m setting it for. The change does not stick.

I do have exactly the same issue.

Question to Apple: Is this really meant to be like this? So, if for example you misspelled your entry or if the watch misheard you, you need to first delete the alarm and then set a new one? This seems more like a bug, than a feature.

Please advise, if there will be an update soon.

That sounds like a great idea, but when I try it Siri shows me the exact thing I'm saying and it matches the alarm name, but then Siri says she can't find the alarm I asked for. I've tried with the alarm enabled and with it disabled. Series 7 watch, cellular, with all watch and phone software up to date as of today, 27 Feb 2022.

It has to be a bug, right? If it was a feature limitation, you wouldn't even have the option to change it.

In other words: if it was a feature limitation, you wouldn't be able to [a] navigate to an existing alarm, [b] tap the Name of the alarm, and [c] be prompted with the Watch keyboard (and even with a companion notification for keyboard entry on the iPhone).

It has to be a bug.

I called Apple Support and they were not able to "fix it" but did provide a workaround. They had me simply delete my existing alarms and then create new ones. The new ones did let me successfully rename them. I hope this helps.

This is ridiculous. I was annoyed before when I had too many alarms and had to spend time delete a bunch, one by one. And now the solution to this renaming problem is: create a new alarm? Renaming alarms is what kept me from having dozens. It makes a minor issue that I had before and made it bigger.

Something to think about:

This is a user supported help community. If you want to complain to Apple about things, they have a process for collecting comments and complaints. Venting here probably won't help and just clutters up the forum.

You can do what you like, but if you want results, venting here won't get it done:-)

Have been experiencing the exact same issue since I updated to WatchOS 8.3 over a month ago. Very frustrating having to delete the alarm and start over again.

@Markwhy: Yes, same for me. Maybe Apple believes it is a feature and not a bug. I did unfortunately not get any feedback on my question further up in this thread.
