Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Seeing emails being written on other iPad?

We have 2 iPads both registered to my Apple ID.

The wife uses one of the iPads and I notice when she is writing an email to someone, it appears on my own iPad, even though we have our own separate email addresses and she is replying to someone who has emailed her.

How do I stop this happening?

Apple ID - create a new.

Apple ID – Create

Family Sharing.

Family Sharing - Set up.

When changing to the new ID, there may be some data loss, but you can minimize it. If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether you want to retain data, choose yes. Messages conversations will be lost if they are addressed to the ID. See the article below for other places that the old ID should be removed. See Winston Churchill's response in the below discussion. Also set up Family Sharing between the IDs to keep access to your apps/purchases.

Don’t use the same Apple ID. Use separate Apple IDs and Family Sharing. The reason is, is because nearby iPads make themselves available via continuity, so writing an email on one device, will let you continue on another device using Handoff. (Same goes between any compatible Mac, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch). You can turn off Handoff, in Settings > General > AirPlay and Handoff. I would definitely just recommend separate Apple IDs as a proper solution.
