can't find safari

Hello, I cannot find my safari icon to get online. I did not update anything. I shut the computer down and then restarted it, now I cannot find the icon.

    It's not in your Dock? And look in your Applications folder.

    Ok...

    Open your System Profiler (Applications/Utilities)

    Under Contents on the left select: Software then Applications

    If Safari is installed on the hard disk it will be in the list that populates on the right.

    Select Safari. Now look down and you will see: Safari version / Last Modified etc.

    What does it say for: Location?

    Are you logged into the admin account? Are you the only user on this Mac?

    Ok...

    Open System Preferences/Accounts then select the Password tab.

    Under My Account on the left. If you are logged into as the admin the first account should be
    highlighted with the account name and say "Admin".

    Where were you launching Safari from before the icon disappeared?

    Double click your MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop. Then open the Applications folder.
