Deleting folders in DCIM in Windows 10

The last time someone answered only spoke about copying files from phone to desktop PC. My question is about deleting the folders under DCIM from a Windows 10 desktop PC. Everytime I try to delete the empty folders, I get a error message "201510__ could not be deleted. The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." Neither of the condition is true as I can still continue to copy files in and out of the other folders or view the files.
