Basically I'm coming off android to an iPhone but I want my WhatsApp back from Google drive but how can i get them on the iPhone for free

Ask Whatsapp or look at their support site, not an Apple issue.
It will still be backed up to Google drive, you just can't get it onto your iPhone. If there is anything you can do with it... that's something you'll have to ask WhatsApp.
You can not transfer your WhatsApp data from an Android device to an iPhone at all... Free or otherwise.
The developers at WhatsApp have not made that possible.
So all everything that's backed up on Google drive I will loose
