how do you get your iphone to use a backup from your computer 2021? my phone wont use my backup from my computer and insists on using an icloud backup from my old phone that I haven't used since 2019. why can't I get my phone to use the one I want?

my phone gave me the "Apple screen of death" for the second time ever yesterday, I managed to get it to work, but on an extremely old backup. my iphone 11 shows up on my computer, it just won't let me use my backup that I want to use from my computer instead of the cloud, is there a way to bypass this and just use the backup from my computer? as I'm mot seeing it

Not sure what you mean by your phone has a whole bunch of settings. Once connected, you click on "restore backup." Pick the backup you wish to use, and that's pretty much it. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184

Yes, of course. Why wouldn’t I? Every time I try to restore the backup from my computer, my phone has a whole bunch of settings, then I have to select if I want to get the information from the computer. I check yes, and it says it’s connected to the computer. That’s all I get from the phone, and I don’t get anything from the computer after that to indicate something to do

Yes, I did that. Apple had decided to put a whole bunch of unnecessary settings. You have to pick weather you want to use an iCloud backup, transfer from your phone, or use your computer. Which I did, and it isn’t working

You shouldn't have to select anything from that screen on the device. Just connect the device and elect to restore in Finder. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184
