Stop advertising Swan Song to my mom

I got my parents an Apple TV for Christmas and we like it a lot, but on the Home Screen it keeps showing promotional content from the store, which I think they’re fine with! But specifically Swan Song, the story of a terminally ill mother, keeps playing, sometimes first and sometimes loudly. And sometimes at the beginning of shows.

I would be happy just to show them other ads, any other ads. My mom had an operation recently and it went well! We don’t want to be thinking about this so much anymore. If anyone can point me to a “stop showing me this content” button I’d love to push it.

Thanks

  • You can stop auto-play of video previews on the home screen. Settings﹥Accessibility﹥Motion﹥Auto-Play Video Previews﹥Off
  • You can set the ‘Top Shelf’ for the TV app on the home screen to show either Up Next (your personal queue list) or What to Watch (recommendations). Settings﹥Apps﹥TV﹥Top Shelf﹥. Or move the TV app to the second row to never see its Top Shelf content.
  • You can remove items from Up Next, if it got there accidentally. Highlight a show tile in the Up Next row, then clicking-and-hold for the contextual menu, then select Remove from Up Next.

I have seen Amazon Prime Video start playback with short promotional content for a different show, but I personally have never seen something similar for Apple TV+. Just the clean content that you select, no ads.
