I have both an iphone 6 and iphone 8 that my company purchased for me - and they let me keep both when I retired. I cannot locate a slot for a SIM card. Why?

Find the SIM tray on the right side as hold the iPhones normally and face them.. See the diagram above.

Sorry - I'm blond! Both phones had an almost undetectable, thin cover on them - same color as the phones with only the SIM card hole obscured. <sigh>
In the end, you have the issue resolved. That is all that matters.

Thanks. My IT Department guy always handled everything regarding tech, and I miss him! Almost makes me want to go back to work sometimes. LOL.
Nah, a little bit of time spent to learn more about the device (like you already are) will eventually make you forget about your IT person. Ha!
