Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and click on High Sierra.

Thank you Niel. My current OS is not compatible with the application I want to work on so, would like to upgrade. As you are saying to back up the data, is it possible I loose the data in my mac, if I upgrade to 10.13 ?

Yes. Other things, such as drive failures, can also cause it to be lost.

Clicking on the link will open the Mac App Store. Get it from the product page there and run the installer from the Applications folder.
