How to remove activation lock?

how can i remove this lock to factory reset this and start over with my id and password

apple model is A1489

The only way that you can remove the Activation Lock is by entering the Apple ID and Password requested by the iPad. If you are not the original owner of this iPad, then contact the original owner for the Apple ID’s password.

She can visit iforgot.apple.com to reset her password. Or, you can provide proof of purchase to Apple to have the device unlocked. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201441

Enter the Apple ID and password asked for on the activation lock. It will be the one currently logged into the device.

Well this was my daughters when she was 10 or 11 and forgot what she changed it to. Is there a way to call and talk to them and have it unlocked or is that not an option and now just trash.
