Is Big Sur earlier than Monterey version?
should I upgrade from Big Sur to Monterey ? And is Monterey a better operating sys?

i am one who always recommends keeping your macOS up to date. that includes running the most current macOS that the machine is compatible with. but you need to consider wether your apps will be compatible with a newer macOS. and of course you will want to make a backup before upgrading / updating your mac in case something goes wrong during the update / upgrade.
