Wiping a macbook pro to give away

I have an old MacBook running El Capitan version 10.11.6. This is not the original operating system as I constantly updated the computer. I want to wipe my info and retain the operating system which is the most recent this computer will accept. Anyone know how to do that?

Click here and follow the instructions. When you reach step 6, insert a compatible Mac OS X install DVD, restart with the C or Option key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS.

The copy of El Capitan installed on it is tied to your Apple ID and not transferable. The new owner will need to upgrade it themselves.
