use correct cable message upon start-up

I also have the issue with my 34" LG monitor; I own a new Mac Mini. I am using a curved LG 4K monitor. I get a rectangular message message (I think generated by the LG monitor, not the computer) that is in the center of the screen on every start up for approximately 60 seconds. The Apple mouse pointer will go under, NOT onto, the message. The message is:

"Make sure to use supplied input cables."

It has two options in the rectangle:

1. Do not display this message again

2. Close. Since You can not move to the surface of the message, the choices are not available. This is why I thing it is a message from the LG monitor itself.

However, one can't select either option as the mouse pointer goes under the message box.

Any tips on preventing this message pop-up on every start up, will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. You are correct. It is the monitor telling me that , not the Mac. I moved the monitor joystick over and made the message go away. Funny thing is, I am using the cable that came in the box with the monitor.

The only LG 4K monitor I know had its own miniature joystick, concealed just below the LG logo on the front of the monitor.

That joystick is used to select the options in the screen menu that you see on monitor start-up.

The same joystick is used to access all the monitor internal setting menus.

Your Mac Mini is not involved in this setting at all which is why you can’t move the mouse pointer over the message from the Mac.

The LG joystick is so small and well hidden it can only be felt, rather than seen.

If you feel below the LG logo there is a small recess where the joystick is located.

If the above is not relevant to your LG monitor then contact LG support for help, it’s not an Apple Mac Mini problem.
