Maybe premature wear, like with a car battery or tires, or in Apple’s case the battery. All electronics are are expected to wear out, but it’s a question when (the bathtub curve) and how to weed out as many early failures as possible through testing. Even then, failures are random and distributed through the lifetime. But that doesn’t likely apply to the OP.
