iCloud account password

im trying to reset my iCloud password because otherwise I can’t access my iCloud or my devices on said iCloud account. However in order to reset I need either my security question answers, which I can’t answer anymore because it won’t let me or it’ll send an email to change the password to the iCloud account THAT I CANT ACCESS! Which is the whole point. It’s an old account I’m just trying to use my old apple products. PLEASE HELP! I tried calling and doing a live chat with apple already.

iPhone 6, iOS 12

When Apple ID password is not known , and you have started process of account recovery the account is set for 2FA and not set with secondary authentication , it can days to recover the account ( approximately 25 - 30 days ) from server don't try to sign in in between the process see the article How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password - Apple Support

You don't remember the apple id password for an old iCloud account and security answers for respective questions are incorrect .

If the device is in your possession convert the secondary authentication account into 2FA .

In your case it depends you have correct credentials for the account you have set up , use a web browser and link https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid#!&section=appleid

Please clarify at present is the Apple ID signed as example1@gmail.com or as example2@icloud.com the account is set how with secondary authentication or with 2FA , and see a thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253593601
