This issue has finally been solved in iOS 15.4

I am experiencing the same behavior. I first noticed it when I attempted to rename all of my tags. Two tags will not change in the list, despite only capitalizing (or lowercasing) the name. Instead, I get new tags with the same name but hidden from the main Tags list (yet will show on the reminder and be visible when right-clicking). The tags will not delete either. If I add characters to either tag, it generates new tags, taking the reminder with them.

Other attempts include:

• Disabling iCloud Reminders on all devices—all are running the latest version of macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS—and then re-enabling iCloud Reminders to refresh everything.
• Disabling/Re-enabling and including iCloud Apple Notes for good measure.
• Deleting the tags in both Reminders and Notes along with any mention of the words is Notes (including clearing out Deleted Notes)
• Deleting every tag from every reminder, including every Smart List. All other tags vanish, except for the two.
• Deleting every reminder, including all completed reminders, and disabling/re-enabling iCloud Reminders from every device, but only after exporting the data (in text form) to a note since there is no export option in the latest version of Reminders.

I have the exact same issue. A few reminders tags will not delete from the tag filter. The two reminders where created when my iPhone was on iOS 15 but my Mac had not yet been updated to Monterey. The reminder tags somehow got stuck while the two devices were not completely up to date on the latest software.

I'm experiencing the same bug and tried the same things as madtyper86. I created a feedback report (FB9396390) for this bug and I'm surprised that there are no "recent similar reports". I hope Apple fixes this soon. I've stopped using the app entirely due to this bug. I was really excited to see a "Delete Tag" option, but unfortunately it does nothing for the buggy, empty tags.

I would like to report I have the same issue. Were any of the rest of you on iOS betas prior to the iOS 15 launch? I have a suspicion the way tags are handled in code was changed, which would explain why I can delete new tags I create (even ones with capital letters) but my old tags (which do all happens to start with capitals) can't be deleted.

Same issue here! I can delete a tag that starts with a lower case letter but not tags that begin with an upper case letter. I can’t rename these tags either. Super annoying bug.

Yup. I was on the beta and I suspect the same thing…except it doesn’t work.

Same here! I was on the public beta and the tags I can’t delete are definitely ones I created during the public beta period.

I haven't been to the beta test, but the problem has arisen. I can't delete the first tag that was created before the Mac update, the new version of which added tag support.
