OneDrive and MacOS clean reinstall

I want to do a clean reinstall of macOS Monterey 12.1. This could involve reformatting of hard drive.

I have OneDrive with Files-on-demand enabled on my Mac which stores all my documents in the cloud.

Do I need to take any special steps so that after reformatting my drive and re-installing OneDrive app subsequent syncing will not send a message to the cloud to delete all content there based on my newly reformatted/reinstalled macOS?

OneDrive is a MS Drive used for Storage but if it were me - would copy all Data from OneDrive to safe and secure External Drive incase and before attempting a Wipe and Reinstall.

After all, these must be important documents - right ?
