Notify when left behind on AirTag takes too long to send me a notification. I would be well away from home (around 20mins) when I eventually receive a notification.

Is there a way to get a notification sooner?

Yup no exceptions at all. When I check it on find my its at home as I made sure I left it. 20 minutes is the maximum time it sends a notification. The minimum was around 13 but thats still quite late. And thats the time it takes when im driving in a car so 13 minutes away with a car is a hassle to go back for them.

Hi Okmshh,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with the Left Behind alerts for your AirTag. We'd like to help.

Which device is your AirTag connected to? Which iOS is it running? Head to Settings > General > About to confirm. Then, tell us more about these alerts. Are you noticing the delay in the notification only when you leave your AirTag at home? This will help isolate the issue.

Check to make sure you're AirTag is set up correctly following these steps:

Set separation alerts in case you leave an AirTag or item behind in Find My on iPhone

Let us know and we'll continue from there.

Take care!

Try resetting the AirTag. You also need to make sure that you have device sharing setup. Check this link for the User Guide. Set separation alerts in case you leave an AirTag or item behind in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support

I've not seen one take that much time, but I don't have a notification appear often, since the only things that I have the tags on are my work backpack and my car keys, and both of them have an exception for home.

Hey Colleen,

I set it up from my iPhone running iOS 15.2.

The delay occurs when I leave it at home yes but because I haven’t tried leaving it outside the house then walking away from it. I also have never set up an exception for the notification so theoretically the notification shouldn’t have any delay when I distance myself from it. I have confirmed with the link you provided and made sure I did everything correctly

Is Home setup as an Exception location? I have my backup with an AirTag, however home is setup as an exception, so if I leave the backpack at home, which I do unless I'm going to work, it does not notify me. I have found when I took it to my son's house for a weekend out of town since I still had a little work to do, we went out to lunch, and it notified me within a couple of minutes saying it had been left at his house.

Notify when left behind on AirTag takes too long to send me a notification. I would be well away from home (around 20mins) when I eventually receive a notification.
