macbook air, from OS X Mavericks to...?

Hi! I have this really old MacBook Air 11" from (what it says underneath the laptop) 2010, but I got it pre used in 2012. I used it for years with it working fine until mid 2019 when I had access to a newer computer. I really like my computer and it's unbelievable it is still going strong. Apart from all these MacOS updates. I am trying to upgrade it to Mavericks now, but it is going slow. My question is, am I gonna have to update it OS by OS until its's not compatible anymore or? How do I do it? I feel so lost in the jungle. I can't watch Netflix anymore because it can't get the new version of Google Chrome on it. And is there anyone out there who happens to know what OS is the latest I can get?

Please help, thank you in advance!

Regards,

MacBook Air

The Age of this computer will Govern what newer version of macOS it will Qualify to install. Use About this Mac from the Apple Icon on Desktop - the required Information will be there.

With the above information in-hand - follow this How to get old versions of macOS and verify what version this computer Qualifies to install.  For Best results use Safari to commence the download as Others may not work.

Safari will open a redirect and open the Apple Store where the download can commence

macOS High Sierra - Technical Specifications High Sierra is the most up to date macOS this computer Qualifies to run

Make Time Machine Backup  is very useful and can be used to Revert to Previous Working macOS

Are there any AntiVirus, Disk Cleaner, Optimizers, Un-installers, etc installed which should be removed as per Developers Instructions. They are useless, unneeded, cause havoc and interfere with the normal  operation of the OS and may even Corrupt the OS requiring a Reinstallation
