iPad mini 2 won't update

I can't get my iPad mini 2 to update to the latest IOS software. Its always been running extremely slow lately and is has plenty of storage left. Any help would be appreciated.

Your iPad Mini 2nd Generation cannot be updated beyond iOS version 12.5.x due to hardware limitations. It cannot be updated to anything higher.
