Can the t-mobile store use my old phone to see my texts and data

The t-mobile store transferred my phone data to my new phone - they showed me they deleted the data from the old phone with the clear data button. But I had a strange text come on my new phone while I was texting someone and I didn't type the text and am not sure where it came from. Could the store still have my data and the ability to use my old phone and see what I'm doing on my new phone?

Maybe a few more details. Did you need to turn in the phone as some sort of upgrade or trade-in?

If they did a complete restore to factory settings and removed the SIM card, there's no way for anyone to use an old device to do that. It's completely disconnected from you at that point unless your SIM card is re-inserted or you restore from a back up.

TMobile can be annoying, but they have never abused my information to send texts outside of "account notification" activity.

Is it a real-looking number, or something like "482-7"? TMobile-central loves to send surveys or account updates from an array of numbers like this.

You said "I did not type the text". Does that mean the number was your number ... you-texted-you? Called "spoofing", people mask their real number.

Or maybe just coincidence that some joker dialed a wrong number at this precise moment.

They kept my phone and put in a new sim card in my new phone.

When I saw the text on my phone while I was texting my sister, it was strange because I didn't type the text so I deleted it and replied with my own text. After I thought about it, I worried that someone else could see my texts while I am texting and could send a text and it would look like I did the texting. Not sure what spoofing is or how it works.

"Spoofing" is when a person calls/texts from a number, but uses computer-tricks to make it look like someone else sent the message. For example, pretending to be the local police department to scare you into certain actions. Or a cheated-on spouse pretending to be the other spouse best friend because he would suspect his wife calling.

My home phone once actually called my home phone, and it was not me making the call.
