Iphone XS Heating up and now wont charge further than red

Hi,

I have an iPhone XS. Started seriously heating up so I turned it off for a day. Battery completely died. I've had the phone on charge for well over an hour now, when I try turning it on the battery sign pops up indicating it's still charging up, its been stuck on red the whole time. Phone also heated up once put on charge, starting from below the camera and now is spreading.

I've tried turning it on the normal way. Battery sign pops up.

I've tried the 'volume up+volume down+hold power button till apple logo pops up'; apple logo showed up but was stuck for about a minute then turned off. Repeated, but to no avail.

Only damage to phone is a cracked screen, which is an aftermarket one installed multiple months ago.

Please advise what issue could be and the possible fix. Much appreciated.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPhone.

I would recommend trying to use a different charger, or a wireless charger and see if that helps.

If it doesn’t, I see you mentioned you were able to force restart the device. Try and see if you can place the device in recovery mode to restore it via iTunes on a Mac or PC to erase and reinstall iOS.

This should resolve your issue if related to software.

If your iPhone won't turn on or is frozen

Otherwise, if the device still won’t power on, I would recommend contacting Apple Support for further assistance.
