Perhaps the link to where 'Malwarebytes for Mac' may be downloaded.
It works, with macOS El Capitan 10.11.6; from Malwarebytes for Mac?
See if these instructions may help with installation & use. Also there's no
need to buy or un-install Malwarebytes; after14-day free full version trial.
It remains useful & gets a few updates; in a further 'workable' capacity.
[Note instruction #14 for reference to free version; the first time you get
and run free 14-day full version trial, on expiry, a 'free' version remains.]

Details address the installation and should provide an El Capitan version.

• Using EtreCheck - Apple Community

A good free version of EtreCheck utility (this developed by contributor
to ASC of long standing; can be useful and can still be run in El Capitan.
My Mac had that one until few months ago, then upgraded to High Sierra;
Then got the newer versions of both these. download EtreCheckPro
The "Power User portion" is not essential and is an option to buy; you may get
the EtreCheck utility first and run it; then later 'ignore upgrade' to Power User.
You do not need to get this from App store; direct download from maker-site.
(For supported secure browsers after Firefox ESR, try Brave. Or classic Waterfox.)
~ Also consider an upgrade to High Sierra; your Mac could use it fine.
For older versions of macOS and 'downloadable installers' see:
