How to stop Apple Cash for being used also when I make Apple Card payments?

I just want to pay my Apple Card balance each month with my bank account so my Apple Cash card will start to develop a decent balance so I can send it to the kids. Currently, every time I make a payment on my Apple Card each month it automatically uses whatever Apple Cash I currently have included in this payment.

How do I remove this?

Turn payments with Apple Cash on or off

If you want to pay from only your bank account without using your Apple Cash balance, follow these steps:

Open the Wallet app on your iPhone and tap Apple Card.
Tap to pay.
Choose a payment amount and tap Pay Now.
Tap your bank account, then turn Apple Cash on or off.
Tap the Back button, then authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode to make a payment.
