Suggest doing a Time Machine Backup is very useful and can be used to Revert to Previous Working macOS. before attempting the update.

I have MacOS version 12.0.1. I recently downloaded the newest operating system, Monterey.
Ever since some of my emails will not move to trash. The contents of the message is gone, but
the original emails stays on my email page. It is very difficult to manage my emails with this problem.

Try rebuilding the Mailbox. Select the Mailbox (Inbox) of the account, then choose Rebuild from the Mailbox menu.
Who is the email provider? Gmail makes it almost impossible to completely delete an email.
I did what you suggested, but some of the emails still won't delete. Do you have any other suggestions?

I did rebuild the mailbox. It didn't help. I do have gmail, but I've never had a problem before.
Where do I find the Connection doctor?
