Can I connect my Macbook Air 2020 with my late 2021 iMac as a secondary screen display?

My late 2012 iMac's hard drive recently failed, but I'm hoping to use it as a monitor for my Macbook Air 2020. I realize it does not have the mini display port but only the thunderbolt ports. If so, which cords will I need to connect? My Macbook Air only has USB-C. Much thanks in advance!

No sorry, see > https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204592

  1. Your 2020 MacBook Air does not support using an iMac as a display in Target Display Mode.
  2. Your 2012 iMac must be in 100% working order to be used as a display in Target Display Mode.
