As described, your iPad will charge normally when separated from the Magic Keyboard, but will not charge when docked with the Keyboard? If so, separate the iPad from the keyboard, and gently wipe the Smart Connector contacts (three small dots on the back of your iPad) with a dry lint free cloth. If the contacts are excessively soiled, a soft pencil eraser can be gently used to clean the contacts.
Also check and gently clean the corresponding contacts of the Magic Keyboard.
Next, check that you are using the correct Power Adapter. You iPad is likely to have been supplied with a 20W USB-C Power Adapter - this being ideal to charge your iPad. Be aware that many iPhone Power Adapters are only rated at 5W - and are unsuitable.
These support pages should help with troubleshooting general charging issues:
Charge and monitor the iPad battery - Apple Support
If your iPad won't charge – Apple Support
Troubleshooting generally requires substitution of the Power Adapter and cable for another known-good item.
If you continue to experience difficulties, you might be best advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support - and request a remote diagnostic test. You can contact the Support Team using the Get Support link at top-right of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

Hi Single_Mom_2teenager,
Thanks for reaching out about charging your Magic Keyboard. We can help with this. Does the keyboard charge if you connect it to a different device? We want to isolate the issue to either the iPad or the keyboard.
Take care.
Thank you
Actually, the problem was that when connected to the magic keyboard or just alone it was charging so slow. I had it plugged in for 3 hours and the percentage only went up 1%.
