USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter Not Charging iPhone

I have been using the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter for a couple of years now. It has always worked flawlessly. Recently, I bought a iPhone 12 mini. I tried charging my iPhone using the original Lightning to USB-C cable provided with the phone by plugging into the multiport adapter to my 2016 MacBook Pro and it doesn't work. I've succeeded with the following

Charging the iPhone with the provided cable directly into the USB-C port from my MacBook Pro
Charging my MacBook Pro through the USB-C port of the AV Multiport Adapter while simultaneously using the HDMI port

All this to say, I know the iPhone cable work. I know the USB-C port on the Multiport adapter works. I just don't know why it won't charge my iPhone.

Anyone knows why?

So when I connect my phone to a charging adapter or to the PC/MacBook first 20-30 minutes it works well but then if I touch my cable and it moves for a few millimeters the phone will start to disconnect but when I just reconnect the phone it again will work well.
