Lightning cable headphones not working on iPhone 8+

So I got a iPhone 8+ for Christmas and I got some lighting cable connecter headphones and I tried to play stuff but it don’t work I cleaned it out and restarted and did all the steps but it still don’t work but the headphones work on other apple products what am I supposed to do buy more and see if they work
