How to enable second processor on Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8GHz using terminal

The title says it. What had happened was I used the Processor Pref Pane but now its gone. and Im using iStat Menus and Its only reading 1 Processor. =/ I have heard somewhere that you can use Terminal to enable/disable the second processor. (btw I went to Macintosh HD/System/Library/Core Services/Menu Extras/CPU.menu and it doesnt show up in the menu bar. Also the Processor Pref Pane is gone. TIA.

Hi there, try this...

Boot into Open Firmware by holding down Cmd-Opt-O-F

At the prompt "0 >" type

setenv boot-args cpus=2

Then Type

mac-boot

Enter.

Hi-

While booted normally, in Utilities, open Terminal and enter the following:

$ sudo nvram boot-args="cpus=1" to disable
To re-enable the 2nd cpu *$ sudo nvram boot-args=""*

To get the Processor Pref Pane back, download CHUD.
Run the deinstaller, and then install.
The Pref pane should then be there in System Preferences.
