iphone not working in United States from Nicaragua with roaming plan

is there any setting that should be changed to use within the United States to receive SMS.

Contact your the carrier for your travel plan (some people buy different/separate plans for "out of country" travel).

I did contact carrier and added international roaming plan data works but not able to receive SMS and but can send out. I feel like there is a setting that needs to be adjusted.
