Hi Spacerunner1213,

Thanks for sharing more info.

The free amount of iCloud storage is only going to have 5GB available. This isn't much space to backup your entire device to iCloud, and this isn't the storage being used up on your iPhone.

If you would like to continue to backup and you have a computer, you can backup using your computer instead. 2GB or so being used for Messages in iCloud might not be a lot of space if you have those pictures and videos saved there with iCloud Messages.

You would turn of Messages for iCloud, then use these steps to backup with your computer:

Back up iPhone

Hi Spacerunner1213,

It sounds like you're trying to find where space is being used in Messages and we can help.

Conversation threads that use the most space tend to be filled with pictures or videos.

You can go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Messages, and from there you can see a breakdown of how the storage is used. Tap on a category and you can delete the content as well.
