I have siri set for American english but when I ask it a question involving distances or other weights and measurements, it always brings up kilometers and centimeters, not miles and inches. How do I change that?

Settings > Maps > Distances
It is already set for 'miles' but when I ask Siri a question, its answers are always in metric
What other relevant information have you not shared with us?
For example, what country are you in? What other languages has your iPhone used?
I am in the USA and my phone has never used anything but English.
