How can i get my phone to stop replacing my attempt to swype “and” with “abs”. This isn’t a word I have used and it’s a constant annoyance with the iPhone keyboard. Is there an easy way to stop the iPhone from automatically replacing common words with nonsense? I don’t want to disable the entire feature, just stop it from doing clearly incorrect substitutions.

macuserjeff,

Depending on the language and dictionary set on your device, the Look Up function on iOS does use the word abs and defines it, which is most likely why it is recognized as a word. You can reset the keyboard dictionary, in Settings > General > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary. That would reset custom words you have typed.

You can also change the dictionary things pull from in Settings > General > Dictionary.

Thanks.

and is an option, but almost every time i swipe “and” it replaces it with “abs” which I’m sure is due to sloppy swiping, but “abs” isn’t a word. How do I stop this from using nonsense? I feel like removing “abs” from whatever dictionary it’s using will result in it falling back to “and”. But i can’t figure out how to remove words from this keyboards dictionary of suggestions.
