New Owner of my previous iPad (7th gen) is required to enter my Apple ID even after I removed device from my iCloud

The new owner of my previous iPad (7th gen), iOS15.2, is required to enter my Apple ID even after I removed device from my iCloud. iPad does show up under new owner's Devices on their iCloud! New owner wishes to change the passcode but we noted that under Settings, new owner's Apple ID (pictured icon, Apple ID, iCloud, iTune etc) is greyed out... Any thoughts??

Yes. Did you sign out of the iPad?

Remove your personal information from your old device

  1. If you paired an Apple Watch with your iPhone, unpair your Apple Watch.
  2. Back up your device.
  3. Sign out of iCloud and the iTunes & App Store.
    • If you're using iOS 10.3 or later, tap Settings > [your name].

It is at this point on the iPad Settings, that the new owner's name and icon appears, HOWEVER IT IS GRAYED OUT.
