iPad Thumbnails

Apple's latest iOS update had one notable change for me, when I open a PDF from the Files App to read/annotate the document, the series of thumbnails used to easily navigate to certain pages has been moved from the right to the left-hand side of the screen. The only thing I could find online was an old post complaining about the thumbnails being in the way for right-handed users. Apple's solution was to put them in the way for left-handed users. Wouldn't it have made more sense to make it moveable or able to be hidden?

Hi JackBoni, it is difficult as the option to close the thumbnails is not available when opening a PDF on an iPad to read/annotate. An option others users have used was to install a PDF app to resolve this issue. The thumbnails was not a concern for me so I did not need to install another PDF app.

Turning off the thumbnails is not an option when navigating a document in the native Files App on the iPad.

Instead of “polling” (which is not allowed in the Apple Support Communities), why not simply turn off thumbnails?

By the way, I’m left handed (I even use left handed scissors), and I have absolutely no issue with thumbnails on the left.

You’re absolutely correct! I am sorry about my erroneous post above. I was showing a Pages document accessed through the Files app, not a PDF file.
