iMac mini with iMac late 2013 monitor

I purchased a Mac mini. I thought I was told I could connect it to my late 2013 iMac 21.5 late 2013 and use it as a monitor. I cannot see how it might work. There are thunderbolt ports but not the same as the mac mini. Any suggestions?

Sorry, but that will not work because the new Mac Mini does not support using the 2013 iMac as a display in Target Display Mode.

Please carefully read > https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204592

You can however connect most any aftermarket Display or HDMI TV to the new Mac Mini.
