also, my husband got a new Apple phone and we never activated the free tv , can I still do it and watch on my iPad? I don’t have a smart TV

The offer had to be redeemed within the first 90 days.
The offer for an extended free trial to the Apple TV+ subscription is administrated to an Apple ID account, and once activated, it will be available on any of your devices with the Apple TV app, when signed in with the account that has the subscription. It will not be available on someone else’s device (different Apple ID), unless you have Family Sharing. To share the Apple TV+ subscription in a family setting, you can set up a Family Sharing group.
