Can’t type my password in

So I’m actually on my little brothers phone because I tried setting up an alphanumeric password/passcode on my new iPhone but it doesn’t let me type it in on a keyboard like I’m doing right now but instead it shows me the numbers 0-9 with separate letters under each one of them. I asked around about it to everyone I know but no one knows how to type any letters in, any help?
