Upgrading iPad this week and just have a question.

Good evening everybody. I hope all is well. I wanted to know if this case is compatible with it and the keyboard. I want to use the protector and keyboard at the same time. I just want to know if it's all going to all good. I want this case because it has a pencil holder as well.

Hi Jewunit1, congratulations on upgrading your iPad. The iPad you are considering as per your link accepts the Apple Pencil 1 which is connected via the Lightning Port on your iPad. Your link also includes the option to include the Apple Pencil and Apple Smart Keyboard with your purchase.

In regards to the iPad, both the OtterBox and Apple Smart Keyboard will not affect the charging.

However, both the OtterBox and Apple Smart Keyboard are two separate accessories and work independently of each other and whilst both provide a level of protection, the OtterBox provides better all round protection and includes the ability to use a Pencil holder.

Therefore, if you are wanting to combine the OtterBox with a Keyboard you may want to consider a standalone bluetooth Keyboard rather than the Apple Smart Keyboard.

The Apple Smart Keyboard will still provide some level of protection and you could consider adding a screen protector for added protection but it still does not include the ability to store your Apple Pencil.

ShortBlack6857,

Thanks for the response. I really need an upgrade. My 7 YO iPad is now starting to show its age. I have a similar otterbox case now (without the pencil holder). It's great. But at the same time, I don't want to get a Bluetooth one. I just want to stick with the Apple one. I'm going to haul it around since I'm in consideration for a new job and it requires a lot of traveling (4 out of the 7 days per week). I tend to forget things, so carrying two separate items is a recipe for an expensive disaster lol. I would rather keep everything attached as much as possible.

Also, is this the iPad with the mini LED display?

Hi Jweunit1, the iPad you are considering has LED-backlit Multi‑Touch display with IPS technology (Retina Display). It’s only the M1 IPad Pro 12.9” that has the mini-LED-backlit Multi‑Touch display with IPS technology (Liquid Retina XDR Display). Furthermore, the M1 iPad Pro 11” and iPad Air both have Liquid Retina Displays.

Having said that the Retina Display is still a great display for everyday use.

Nevertheless, there is the ability to compare models on the Apple website (https://www.apple.com/au/ipad/) which you might find useful as you mentioned that you travel a lot and maybe the iPad Air or iPad Pro might be more useful as the Apple Pencil for those models, magnetically attach to the iPad and therefore remains charged all of the time and also frees up the port for power and/or adapters.

However, I do Realise that will cost a little more than what you are considering and you need to be mindful that they use the USB C port which I find much better for my needs as I use the iPad Pro 12.9 with Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil. And all i have done was had a tempered glass protector placed on the screen.

Ya. It's not only cost, but I'm waiting for the OLED displays (which I hear are coming in a couple of years) and it's one of those I can live without it for a while kind of products for me.

I might go with a Pro model, but it's something I have to think about. It's just really expensive for a similar configuration (keyboard, pencil, case, etc). I might have to save further.
