Is there any way to force dark mode on Apple Mail message content?

I currently am using Microsoft Outlook for mail messages, but it is a big resource hog. I'd like to switch to the more friendly Apple Mail, but it seems that even in dark mode, many email messages come through with a non-dark template. MS Outlook has a way to force the inversion of bright white templates to a more pleasing dark rendering of the message. Is there a way that Apple Mail can do the same (outside just setting the background to dark, which has almost no effect except on plain text emails)?
