When backing up IPhone XS to my IMac, my new contacts I entered into my IPhone are not backed up to my Imac. Please advise.

Contacts aren't backup they are synced to whatever mail or cloud program you use.

back up and sync, I have tried to backup new contacts to my IMac from my I Phone XS but the new contacts are not backed up to the IMac. Please advise.
