It’s extremely unlikely you can find them, as the thief can easily connect them to a different Apple device at which point you will no longer be able to track them.
Well, find my device has the feature to locate /last location of AirPods ( if it’s drained of juice).
if you find the AirPods and if it’s damaged you can get a replacement as per T&C.

If you’re using android device and you can’t pinpoint the location, turn on pairing mode and try pairing ( if you know where it’s been lost)
