I cannot generate a recovery key due to visual bug.

I cannot generate a recovery key for my MacBook due to a visual bug. When browsing to System Preferences > Apple ID > Password & Security > Account Recovery Manage > Recovery Key Manage > Turn On, I get to the following screen, which does not allow me to confirm the prompt due to the visual bug.

I already tried:

  • using a second/third monitor;
  • changing the screen resolution/scale;
  • adding a second desktop via the OS;
  • rebooting;
  • resetting SMC;
  • using the prompt options on the touch bar;

Has anyone faced the issue before, and can let me know how to solve it? Or has a clever idea for a workaround?

Thanks

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.1

Hello skppr,

We understand you're unable to generate your recovery key. In addition to the steps you've already taken we recommend attempting the process in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac

We hope this helps!
